The Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Society of Pennsylvania and the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges will join forces for our 2023 covered bridge safari to northern Vermont.
This will be a three-day safari during the Fall Season when (hopefully) leaves are colorful. We will be visiting bridges on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, September 23-25, 2023. Registration by Paypal is below.
Headquarters will be at the Sunset Motor Inn, 160 VT
Route 15W, Morrisville, VT 05661.
Book your room for Friday night, September 22, Saturday
night, September 23 and Sunday night, September 24.
Phone: 802-888-4956. Ask for Sherry to receive the
discounted rate. (M-F 7am-3:30 pm). Tell Sherry you are with
the Covered Bridge Safari.
Discounted Rates: (includes taxes) $125.57 for 1 Queen bed;
$130.48 for 2 Double beds; $147.15 for 1 King bed, or
handicapped room, or with 2 Queen beds. (You must call the
motel directly to get the discounted rate.) The Motel has
two floors but no elevator.
One-third deposit is required at the time of booking. If you
have to cancel, you can cancel up to 7 days before your
first night stay for a full refund.
The motel cannot hold a block of rooms for us. In early
April all rooms were reserved, but you can get on a callback list in case they have any cancellations. If
you are unable to get a room at the Sunset Motel Inn
consider searching motel availability in Stowe (closest to
Headquarters), Montpelier and Burlington. We suggest booking
your room as soon as possible at the Sunset Motor Inn
knowing you can cancel anytime until 7 days before September
22.
We plan to visit about 20 covered bridges in the first two days in northern Vermont and about 13 covered bridges in north central Vermont on Monday. A list of bridges we plan to visit will be provided soon.
After the last bridge visit on Monday bridgers are on their own to either continue on to go home, visit more bridges or stay at a motel nearby which would likely be in the Rutland (west area of VT) or White River Junction (east area of VT). (If you plan to stay in the area Monday night, you must find a motel and book your stay. Please book a room soon for prices are already going up for this area in the fall season.)
Safari Fee is $10 for each person planning to attend. It includes an 8x10 digital or hard copy photo of all participants at a bridge on the Safari trail, snacks and water, a patch commemorating the Safari and other miscellaneous expenses. A T-shirt order form will be included in the June mailing. |
12-passenger vans will be available on Saturday and Sunday for those who prefer to let someone else do the driving.
Those vans are already filled. If you wish to
be put on a wait list, please email Bill Caswell at
nspcb@yahoo.com. The fee for riding in the van for the two days is $20 per person.
